Sou. M. R. Jagtap Mahila Mahavidyalaya Umbraj.

        Rayat Shikshan Sanstha's Sou. Mangaltai Ramchandra Jagtap Mahila Mahavidyalaya was established in 1989 at Umbraj, on the confluence of three rivers Krishna, Tralai and Mand in satara district, Maharashtra. It is Single Faculty Women's college offering undergraduate programme B.A. It is Grant-in-aid College and affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The College offers five degree subjects at special level Marathi, Hindi, English, History and Sociology. Psychology, Geography and Economics are optional subjects up to B.A.II. The curriculum structure and Semester examination pattern is implemented as per University rules. The college, from its establishment is imparting higher education to the economically backward girl students from rural hilly area. It was reaccredited by NAAC in 2011 and has been given B grade (with CGPA 2.27).

        The college has well-furnished building. The college has qualified staff who always remains engaged in the development of girls students. The staff is dedicated to college and mother institution Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara. The library of the college has good number of books and always remains open to serve girls students and staff.



Sou. Mangaltai Ramchandra Jagtap and Shri. Ramchandra Dnyandeo Jagtap

          The college has been named after Sou. Mangaltai Ramchandra Jagtap who donated the earning of her whole service in Rayat Shikshan Sanstha's high school. Sou. Jagtap worked as a teacher in various high schools of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha and donated Rs.20 lakh which she received at the time of her retirement. Both Mr and Mrs Jagtap were inspired by Karmveer's thoughts and decided to work for the upliftment of the poor and deprived rural mass. They specially selected our Women's college for the donation of their lifetime earnings in order develop higher education facilities for the girl students from the rural hilly area around Umbraj.

           Shri Ramchandra Dnyandeo Jagtap was an ideal teacher, head master and a social worker. Born and brought up in a village, he could see how rural mass could not have education because of poverty. He has been awarded with various awards- Ideal Teacher Award of Maharashtra Government, Dr. Karmveer Bhaurao Patil Award of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Ideal Headmaster Award etc. The couple donated the amount with the purpose of imparting higher education to the rural girls in the vicinity of Umbraj.

They also wish that the college should further take steps of development by starting commerce, science wings and also through the coaching of M.P.S.C. and U.P.S.C. exams. The couple has four children. Their elder son Dr. Ranjit, is a renowned Cardiologist in Pune. The other children also are well-educated and they are following the path of social work of their parents. As Mr and Mrs Jagtap donated to our as college as their indebtedness to Karmveer Bhaurao Patil and Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, this college would also be grateful to the couple for their substantial help to us.
